Sally Daynes Profile

Acupuncture & Naturopathy LicAc, LicNat, MBAcC, MBANP

I am a qualified Acupuncturist and Naturopath and had my own practice in London before relocating to Cornwall.

Acupuncture is an ancient healing technique, derived from China, that stimulates the central nervous system releasing chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes stimulate the body’s natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being. As a Naturopath I am also qualified to give nutritional and lifestyle advice to aid recovery.

I have specialist training in muscular-skeletal disorders, electro-acupuncture, sports injury recovery and management of chronic pain.

Pain relief - Acupuncture needles stimulates the production of endorphins and opioids which are released into the system triggering the body’s natural healing ability, often giving rapid pain relief.

Inflammation reduction - The insertion of micro-needles also stimulates a natural anti-inflammatory response by releasing chemicals that cause vasodilation (blood vessel dilation) and vascular permeability (this allows greater flow of chemicals throw the vessels). These physiological responses allow the removal of inflammatory mediators from the injury site reducing the inflammation.

Trigger point release - In addition to promoting anti-inflammatory and pain relieving mechanisms, acupuncture can also be used to resolve regions of tightened muscle called trigger points. Triggers points (also known as muscle knots) occur when there is the over-contraction of a small number of muscle fibres in one region. Needling directly into the trigger points stimulates blood flow and the delivery of oxygen and nutrients through vasodilation, and reduces the elevated electrical activity in the muscles, allowing them to relax.

My approach is empowering, kind and compassionate. I am here to journey alongside my patients supporting their physical recovery while addressing any underlying constitutional inbalances.

I am a registered member of The British Acupuncture Council & The Association of Naturopathic Practitioners.
